Dr. Justice Vineet Kothari, born on 02nd September, 1959, is presently the Senior Most Puisne Judge of the Gujarat High Court from 04.01.2021. From 23rd November, 2018, till 03.01.2021, he was Senior Most Judge at Madras High Court and discharged the duty as Acting Chief Justice also there for about two months. Initially appointed as Judge in the Rajasthan High Court on 13.6.2005, he joined Karnataka High Court upon transfer on 18th April, 2016.

Born and brought up in a reputed family at Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Dr. Justice Vineet Kothari accomplished the Qualifications of B.Com. (Hons.), LL.B. (1981), LL.M. and Ph.D. (Tax Laws) at Jodhpur. He also qualified as a Chartered Accountant (C.A.) as well as Company Secretary (C.S.) (1981-82).

Practised as a Tax and Constitutional Lawyer in Rajasthan High Court, after enrolment by Bar Council of Rajasthan after practicing as a Chartered Accountant for two and half years, he was enrolled as Lawyer on 07.9.1984.

Justice Vineet Kothari has decided approximately 23000 cases in Rajasthan High Court, 14000 cases in Karnataka High Court and 8000 in Madras High Court mostly on Civil and Tax Laws and a few Criminal Appeals.

His Lordship has contributed papers for National Conferences and International Conferences on International Taxation and other Allied Subjects in various European Countries at Amsterdam, Helsinki, Switzerland and Brisbane, Australia and is the Honorary Director on the Board of International Association of Tax Judges (IATJ) and Member of C.M.J.A., London.
